
A Pharmacognosy Field Visit to Botanical Garden
Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, DumDum organized a Pharmacognosy field visit to Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanical Garden 15th March 2024. Students along with two faculty members took part in the visit. The team visited Charak Udyan to observe different medicinal plants and came to know both scientific vernacular names and uses of those medicinal plants as crude drugs in different disease conditions. The students got an excellent opportunity to observe the rare species of like Indian long pepper, Insulin plant, Bengal Quince, Vetiver Grass, Indian Sarsaparilla etc.
The team also visited the Central National Herbarium and Ethnopharmacology department to learn about how the Indian tribes used various types of plant parts in their lifestyle
Objectives of Pharmacognosy Field Visit
- To deliver live demonstration of a huge variety of medicinal plants and their important characteristics and their uses.
- To impart knowledge about the identification of the plants and plant parts.
- To interact with the experts of Botanists.
