
BOTANICAL GARDEN VISIT
A Pharmacognosy Field Visit was organised by Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Pharmaceutical
Science and Technology at Botanical Survey of India, Kolkata and Central National Herbarium on 27 th February 2025.
The visit was attended by the students of D. Pharm Part I, 2024-25 academic session and two faculty members, Ms. Shirsha Majumdar and Mr. Plaban Saha accompanied them. This visit was conducted as a part of the paper Pharmacognosy Practical (ER20-13P).
During the visit, the students observed variety of medicinal plants like Peeper, ginger, neem, aloe, tulsi etc. at Charaka Udyan, the medicinal garden of Botanical Garden. The scientific name, and the details of the plants were provided in each plant. The students gathered a huge knowledge on different plants having medicinal benefits.
At Central National Herbarium, Howrah, a Research Fellow and the HOD of the Centre gave highly informative and insightful presentation on the preparation and maintenance of the Herbarium and Ethnobotanical Aspect of Herbal medicine. The students saw a huge collection of Herbarium at Central National Herbarium.
The students enjoyed the entire visit. They noted the characteristics and uses of the plants and captured photographs. They gave gathered a huge knowledge through the visit and the presentation and this is will be extremely useful for them in future. Few glimpses are attached herewith.
