Introduction
As a part of the practical curriculum and experiential learning under the Diploma in Pharmacy programme, Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (DSIPST) organized a Hospital Field Visit to ESI Hospital, Kamarhati on 30th July 2026 for the students of D.Pharm. The primary objective of this educational visit was to provide students with firsthand exposure to the functioning of a hospital and to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional pharmacy practice. Such field visits are an integral component of pharmacy education, enabling students to understand the role of pharmacists in patient care and hospital management
Objectives of the Visit
- To familiarize students with the functioning of a hospital pharmacy.
- To understand the workflow of Out-Patient and In-Patient pharmaceutical services.
- To observe the organization and management of hospital pharmacy departments.
- To gain knowledge about diagnostic laboratory services, especially the Pathology Department.
- To enhance students’ understanding of interdisciplinary healthcare services and the role of pharmacists in patient management.
