- Introduction
To commemorate World Organ Donation Day 2026, the Department of D.Pharm at Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology organized a Scientific Model Making Competition on 21st August, 2026. The objective was to spread awareness about organ donation and to develop scientific creativity, communication skills, and social responsibility among pharmacy students.
- Inauguration & Guest Address
The program was inaugurated in the presence of the Chief Guest, Senior Faculty Member of Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Principal of DSIPST, Dr. Sumana Chatterjee, all faculty members, staff and students. Mr. Rupam Roy, Assistant Professor, DSIPST, hosted the programme. Dr. Sumana Chatterjee addressed the gathering and in her valuable speech she highlighted the significance of organ donation for the society and motivated the students to spread the awareness. Mr. Jaydip Ray encouraged the students to link scientific models with real-life public health problems and appreciated the efforts of D.Pharm students in preparing informative exhibits.
- Event Details
D.Pharm students participated enthusiastically in the competition. They presented working and static models based on human organ systems and organ donation awareness. Key models included: Working Model of Kidney & Dialysis – importance of kidney donation, Heart Transplant Model – procedure and donor compatibility “Pledge for Organ Donation” Awareness Board – myths vs facts, Liver and Eye Donation Model – role of pharmacists in post-transplant care. Each team explained their model’s scientific concept, social impact, and relevance to pharmacy practice. Our Chief guest evaluated each and every model.
- Evaluation & Outcome
Mr. Jaydip Ray evaluated all models based on innovation, scientific accuracy, presentation, and relevance to the theme. He provided feedback and appreciated the students’ creativity and understanding of the subject. The event successfully created awareness about organ donation and highlighted the pharmacist’s role in health education and community welfare.
- Conclusion
The Scientific Model Making Competition was a success. The guidance from Dr. Suman Chatterjee and evaluation by Mr. Jaydip Ray inspired students to think scientifically while serving society. The program ended with a vote of thanks given by Mr. Plaban Saha, Assistant Professor, DSIPST.
