ESI Hospital Visit at Kamarhati

A Hospital Visit was organised by Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology at Kamarhati ESI Hospital on 11^th April 2025. The visit was attended by the students of both D. Pharm Part I and D Pharm Part II, 2024-25 academic session and two faculty members, Ms. Shirsha Majumdar and Mr. Soumajit Bag accompanied them. This visit was conducted as a part of the paper Social Pharmacy Practical (ER20-15P) for D. Pharm Part I students and Community Pharmacy and Management (ER20-22P) and Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy (ER20-25P) for D. Pharm Part I students. During the visit, the students of D. Pharm Part I and Part II observed variety of departments in that hospital. Students were observed the in-patient and outpatient services provided for patients. They visited the out-patient dispensing area from where medicines were provided to OPD patients. In in-patient supply area they observed different types of vaccines, IV admixtures from admitted patients. They visited the hospital wards to see the role of the hospital Pharmacists towards the admitted patients. The students also saw variety of wards and emergency services provided for patients. At the Store of the hospital, they saw a huge variety of medicines which are used in several departments and wards. They earned a knowledge about the inventory and storage condition of the medicines. The students were highly involved in the visit. They noted all the details about medicines including their composition and classes. They gathered a significant knowledge through the visit which will be extremely useful for them in future.
