A workshop was organized by the Scientific Committee of DSIPST on 17th April 2026 to commemorate National Health Care Decisions Day. The program was conducted on the theme “First Aid and Basic Life Support” in collaboration with Medisky Nursing Institute.
The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance awareness and practical knowledge among students regarding emergency care, life-saving techniques, and immediate response during critical situations. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 50 students along with faculty members.
The session was led by distinguished speakers, Ms. Baby Banik, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Kasturi Pal, Sister Tutor, from Medisky Nursing Institute. They delivered informative and interactive lectures focusing on essential first aid procedures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, and handling medical emergencies such as choking, fractures, and unconsciousness.
The speakers along with their team also conducted live demonstrations and hands-on training sessions, allowing participants to practice CPR techniques and other basic life support measures. This practical exposure significantly improved the confidence and readiness of the attendees to respond effectively in emergency situations.
All participants will be awarded e-certificates in recognition of their active participation and successful completion of the workshop.
The workshop concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where participants clarified their doubts and gained deeper insights into emergency healthcare practices. The Scientific Committee of DSIPST expressed their gratitude to the resource persons and collaborating institute for their valuable contribution.
Overall, the workshop was highly informative and successful in achieving its objective of promoting awareness and preparedness in first aid and basic life support among students.
